Officially recognized student organization nationally and at CSUMB

February 29 in California State University, Monterey Bay

We did it!! AAUW AT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY, MONTEREY BAY is now recognized as a Student Organization of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) to promote its mission and policies. AAUW hereby confers upon it all the rights, privileges, and obligations as embodied in the AAUW bylaws.

Empowerment Collage in the Student Center’s East Lounge @ 12!

Hello Everyone!

Today at noon we will be having a meeting in the Student Center’s East Lounge. There we will provide updates, answer questions, and host an activity. The activity, an empowerment collage, will be based on AAUW @ CSUMB’s mission statement. Our goal for this activity is to brainstorm ideas for a tagline or phrase surrounding what our organization stands for, and create a collaborative art piece we can display at future meetings and events. We have some supplies including glue sticks, scissors, and poster boards, but feel free to bring magazines or newspapers to clip from – and anything else creative!

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) at CSUMB advocates for all women and allies, providing a safe space and the educational tools necessary to navigate university life and beyond. We are dedicated to civic engagement and community collaboration through events, group discussions, and volunteer work to help promote equality and inclusivity for all women.

• Made the constitution, sent to Aparna to sign; once signed, print, and send it to be approved → become active club
• Haven’t heard from Tyler with a flyer; Talked to the OC3 (member about our event); Meetings should be at night (possibly Friday)

1. Welcome Week Tabling Recap

• Talked about consent
• Got 5-10 people to sign up for email list
• One person from MGC remembered us
• MGC requires certain number of volunteer hours; could use our events

1. Progress Update on Training

• At the end of the month
• Face to face training Feb. 29 and March 1 (group needs to attend one, not both) → find out time/more info

• Can promote; just fill out paperwork with how much we make, what for, etc.
